To all Oberlin Sports fans, lacrosse season is officially underway. After a long preseason the Yeomen got their first taste of competition against another team.
The Oberlin's mens lacrosse team traveled to Baldwin Wallace yesterday for a preseason scrimmage. in order to work out the kinks for Wednesdays season opener at Mount Union.
The Yeomen got out to a slow start against the hornets only scoring two goals in the first quarter. The slow start did not end up having a major effect on the outcome of the scrimmage as the Yeomen rolled to a 11-3 victory.
After a slow first quarter the Yeomen were able to settle in and just play lacrosse.
The Yeomen moved the ball around the perimeter with ease for the last three quarters. With that the offense was reinvigorated as both middies and attackmen were able to draw slides off of dodges and get easy shots on goal. On top of that the defense was rock solid only allowing three goals and creating a lot of turnovers.
Now the focus improving and getting ready to face Mount Union next Wednesday to open the season.
The Yeowomen are hanging tough with number one ranked DePauw, with the score 39-26 in favor of Hiram going into halftime. The Yeowomen have kept DePauw within striking distance. DePauw was only able to hold a seven point lead for most of the half. Towards the end of the half DePauw was able pull away as the Yeowomen kept turning the ball over. Onto the good stuff....
Christina Marquette is putting the team on her back with 18 of the 26 Yeowomen first half points. This game is far from over....lets go Yeowomen!
